Event Details

The last concert of the MUTD season, Tracing Color, will be a tour de force starting with two pieces performed by Schwob Concerto Competition winner flutist Alexis Eubanks, who will present Allison Loggins-Hull’s fantastically imaginative Color Wheels (with electronic sounds) and Kazuo Fukushima’s Asian influenced Mei. Next, Schwob graduate pianist Whittker Locke will perform African -American composer William Grant-Still’s 7 Traceries, a standard in the repertoire that is both eclectic in its influences and graceful in its delivery. After this wonderful work, the award-winning Schwob Percussion Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Paul Vaillancourt will perform three pieces, starting with Owen Clayton Condon’s frenetic Fractalia, Phillip Glass’s shimmering Xingu River, and they’ll conclude with Kevin Bobo’s action-packed Swarm. Designs will be done by acclaimed guest artist Thomas Lanham.

As always, reception at 5pm with wine and cheese, and 45 minute concert at 5:37pm!
