Event Details

On October 14, 2023, the shadow of the Moon will sweep across the Earth! From our point of view in Columbus, Georgia, we will see the Moon appear to partially cover the sun, until the Sun is a little over half-covered.

Join us at the Space Science Center starting at 11:30 am, where we will be using Sun-safe instruments and methods to watch this “Partial Solar Eclipse”! We’ll get to see the Moon creep in front of the Sun starting at 11:42 am, and continue to cover more of it until it is about 55% covered at 1:13 pm, and then moves on to let the full Sun shine again by 2:47 pm.

Remember, you need proper eye protection to view a partial eclipse of the Sun! The Stargazers Giftshop at CCSSC has eclipse glasses available for purchase.

The solar eclipse event is FREE. Entry to see a planetarium show will be $5 per person per show.
